Achieving remarkable success as first-time competitors, the Virginia Tech Aerial Robotics Team won first place overall in the 2005 International Aerial Robotics Competition with a computer-controlled Bergen helicopter.  The team also won first place in the technical presentatio portion of the competition and third place in the design category.  This is one of the most difficult of all unmanned ground-or-air vehicle competitions, not in its 15th year.
