Students volunteer to help the Virginia Tech community for The Big Event

Virginia Tech’s Student Government Association hosts The Big Event each April. Students, faculty, and staff serve the surrounding community with projects such as painting, yard work, and trash pickup. With over 5,000 volunteers working on more than 750 service projects, Virginia Tech’s 2009 Big Event was the second largest Big Event of all the college campuses nationwide. The Big Event began at Texas A&M University in 1982, and Virginia Tech started their own program in 2002. Read more about the event: “University students, faculty, staff plan ‘Big Event’ on April 18 to give thanks.”
